The Tivoli Theatre
Located in the vibrant heart of downtown, the Tivoli Theatre is a fully restored 1920’s movie palace known as the "Jewel of the South." Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Tivoli is the home of the Chattanooga Symphony and Opera Association and also welcomes a wide variety of touring companies each year. Its elegance and intimacy have made it a favorite of audiences and performers alike.
With its expanded stage house, rehearsal facilities and dressing rooms, the Tivoli can accommodate virtually any type of musical or theatrical production. The facility has hosted concerts from blues to bluegrass and classical to country; plus performances by dance, opera, and Broadway touring companies. It is also ideal for lectures and general sessions.
The Tivoli seats 1,762, including 1,012 orchestra, 78 loge and 624 balcony seats, plus 24 upper box seats and 24 lower box seats. The 44-foot deep stage features a floating oak floor and an elegant proscenium reminiscent of a bygone era. The hydraulic orchestra lift can be elevated to create a thrust stage, or lowered to remove the musicians from the audience’s sightlines.
The Tivoli’s four star dressing rooms are furnished with vanities and private baths with showers. There are also two chorus dressing rooms with showers and all amenities. The 60’x31’ mirrored rehearsal room, which has a ballet barre and floating wood dance floor, is equipped with lighted make-up mirrors, so it can be used as additional dressing room space.
The Green Room, complete with kitchenette, can also be used for press conferences, receptions or show office.
