Creative Discovery Museum

One of the nation’s top children’s museums, the Creative Discovery Museum inspires children’s passion for learning through play. Whether creating a clay sculpture in the Artists' Studio, zooming a message through a pneumatic tube in Inventors' Clubhouse, digging for dinosaur bones in Excavation Station, or creating an ensemble cast of characters in the Back Alley Theatre, this museum is full of hands-on family fun. Children 4 years and younger can spend time exploring the infant garden of the Little Yellow House, while kids of all ages will enjoy RiverPlay's 2-1/2 story high climbing structure. Riverplay also offers an interactive watercourse to sail boats, learn about locks and dams, and shoot jets of water to make whirligigs spin!

Creative Discovery Museum is proud to announce the return of the Good for You: Healthy Fun on the Run exhibit as it makes its fourth and final appearance at the Museum. The exhibit was originally developed by the Museum and will be open to visitors from Sept. 26 through Nov. 10.

With childhood obesity ranking as one of the most important issues facing the United States, especially in Tennessee, the exhibit is part of the Museum’s health initiative to teach children and their families that living healthy, active lifestyles can be easy and fun.

In the exhibit, visitors learn about healthy lifestyles and healthy foods. They can listen to their heart beat and participate in hands-on activities that teach the importance of balancing good food choices (energy in) with physical activities (energy out).
