BE A KEEPER KID AT THE TENNESSEE AQUARIUM
Spring break turns into a wild adventure at the Tennessee Aquarium when kids get a chance to get closer to some of the Aquarium’s most amazing animals and discover what it’s like to care for them. Explore behind the scenes, meet penguin experts, feed feisty otters, meet baby jellies and seahorses or learn what it takes to care for giant freshwater fish and toothy sharks. Kids may choose two of the 17 different activities offered throughout the day. Each program lasts approximately 15 to 20 minutes.
Keeper Kids activities are for children ages 6 and up. These experiences are free with Aquarium admission and available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Ocean Journey Keeper Kids experiences:

SPRING BREAK WILLIAMS ISLAND FAMILY ADVENTURE CRUISES
Zip downstream aboard the Tennessee Aquarium’s River Gorge Explorer on a new excursion that will add some excitement to your family’s spring break. The Williams Island Family Adventure Cruise takes passengers to “the Gateway to the Gorge.” During each 90-minute adventure, the young and young at heart will discover Native American and Civil War history, and gain insights into the wildlife that call this wooded island home. Time will be spent on each trip observing an osprey nest and heron rookery. Your naturalist guide helps locate other animals and leads an on-board scavenger hunt. These cruises will depart daily March 23 to April 14 from the Chattanooga Pier. Special Spring Break pricing will be offered for these cruises: $20/per person (age 3 and up), $18/per person under age 3.

. . . be a conductor aboard a train at the Tennessee Valley Railroad? Grab your engineer cap and you can be an imaginary conductor for the day! Jump aboard the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum’s locomotive train along Missionary Ridge.
BE A CONDUCTOR AT THE TENNESSEE VALLEY RAILROAD
Take a trip into history on a rolling time machine. When you ride a vintage train at the Tennessee Valley Railroad, you’ll experience one of the original rail lines into Chattanooga. Along the way, you’ll get to witness two unique methods of turning a train around: the better known turntable, and the wye (think of doing a three-point turn with your car and you’re close). One of the highlights of the trip is riding through Missionary Ridge Tunnel, especially noted for its uniqueness as a horseshoe tunnel.
Missionary Ridge Local trains run daily mid-March through October and weekends only in November. Additional services offered throughout the year include Chickamauga Turn trains to Chickamauga, Georgia on summer weekends, Dixie Land Special excursions into northwest Georgia, and North Pole Limited trains during the holidays. Grand Junction Station is located near I-75, Exit 4 at the Jersey Pike exit from Highway 153.

BE A TIME TRAVELER IN THE CREATIVE DISCOVERY MUSEUM’S “DINOSAURS: LAND OF FIRE AND ICE” EXHIBIT
Long before the Midwest was populated by cornfield and cows, dinosaurs roamed the land. A brand-new exhibit, created by Minnesota Children’s Museum, is roaring at Creative Discovery Museum. From January 19-May 12, children and adults will explore dinosaur habitats to better understand what they left behind.
The exhibit, created for children age 3-10, will feature two distinct environments and a variety of activities. A field research station allows children to step into the role of paleontologist by uncovering fossils with brushes and creating drawings of the dinosaur environment using fossil rubbings and tracings. The steamy “Land of Fire” connects visitors with prehistoric home of Triceratops and T-Rex. Children can circle the land in insect costumes and buzz through a volcano with oozing lava. Work through a swampy bog and identify the ecosystem of animals and plants. No coats needed for a trip across the “Land of Ice” where visitors meet two dinosaurs, a Troodon and Edmontosaurus, who made their homes in the cold climate of Alaska.
Dinosaurs: Land of Fire and Ice is the first child-centered exhibit in the country dedicated to expanding the understanding of dinosaur habitat and range.

- ** Chattanooga Zoo’s Zoologist has two options, one is free and one requires an additional fee. With package, you will get standard tickets to the Zoo. If you choose to do the Zoologist Journey Package, you will be required to pay the difference upon arrival.
