5 Day Advanced Painting Workshop

Dates: February 11, 2019 - February 15, 2019
Recurrence: Recurring daily

Instructor: Mia Bergeron

Class will be limited to 10 students

Join Mia in a 5-day painting marathon. Students will be working from large-format prints from a bank of images chosen by Mia. Mia will guide students through starting, set-up, creative process pitfalls, color, value, drawing, and other technical challenges. Students will also work through composition, finishing techniques, and be guided through the framing and varnishing processes.

Each student will work from a very high-quality, large-scale color photo that will be provided as part of this workshop. These will be a mix of figures, portraits, interiors, and still life. Attendees will be responsible for getting a canvas or panel of matching size to the print.

The goal of this class is to treat painting as a professional painter—how to start, what to look for in a reference, how to make decisions that will wisely affect the outcome of your painting, and how to finish a painting without it looking overworked. This workshop is designed for the advanced student. Painters who have been working in oils for at least a year will get much more out of this workshop.
