Copperhill "Solar" Special

Dates: August 21, 2017

This excursion will be very similar to our regularly-scheduled "Copperhill Special" with two notable exceptions.  First, parking for this trip will take place at 9406 U.S. Highway 411 in Delano, TN rather than the Etowah Depot.  Second, there will be an extended layover in Copperhill, which allows passengers the potential for viewing the Total Solar Eclipse occurring that afternoon.  Total 94-mile roundtrip.  Have lunch on your own during the layover or bring a picnic lunch.  Departure time is 9:30 a.m. and return is around 6:45 p.m.

The "Copperhill" route is the same as for “Loop” trips, but after traversing the river gorge and negotiating the spiral near Farner, the train continues a longer distance through Turtletown and Ducktown to the former mining town of Copperhill.
