Grand Opening of the Charles H. Coolidge National Medal of Honor Heritage Center

Dates: February 22, 2020

Mark your calendars for February 22, 2020 as it will be a special day for Chattanooga, the state of Tennessee and our country.  On this day, we will cut the ribbon and officially open the doors for the new Charles H. Coolidge National Medal of Honor Heritage Center in the heart of where the heritage for the Medal of Honor began in 1862-1863 – Chattanooga, Tennessee.

We invite the public to come out and experience the new National Medal of Honor Heritage Center inside and out during our epic grand opening weekend. The festivities will start with a special ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10 a.m. on Saturday, February 22, 2020. Starting at 1 p.m., the public can purchase advance tickets to be among the first visitors to visit the 19,000-sq-ft facility and walk through the immersive, life-sized exhibits that tell the real-life stories of these ordinary people who demonstrated extraordinary heroics under the most difficult circumstances.

Each of our immersive exhibits will use innovative technologies to combine the sights and sounds of the Medal of Honor narratives with a vibrancy and immediacy of what happened on that day. As a result, we hope to create an emotional engagement and a more profound, memorable experience for our visitors. By bringing these important stories to life, we are creating a lasting tribute to these genuine American heroes who represent the best and bravest of all who served and sacrificed in defense of our nation while educating the next generation of Americans about the six character traits that embody the Medal of Honor and its recipients.

We are anticipating a high volume of visitors for our celebration so we strongly encourage people to purchase advance tickets to visit the National Medal of Honor Heritage Center during its opening weekend.  Tickets are now available!
