MacDowell Music Club to host its April Program. The program will feature Susan Whitacre, viola, accompanied by Virginia Marion, at the piano, performing Six Studies in English Folk Song by Benjamin Britten: Adagio (Lovely on the Water); Andante sostenuto (Spurn Point); Larghetto (Van Dieman’s Land); Lento (She borrowed Some of her Mother’s Gold); Andante Tranquilio (The Lady and the Dragoon); and Allegro vivace (As I walked over London Bridge). They will also perform La cumparsita by Gerardo Matos Rodriguez; Chiquilin de Bachin by Astor Piazzolla; and El Chamuyo by Francisco Canaro.
Following this will be Sarah Glenn, soprano, accompanied by David Friberg, at the organ, to present Mendelssohn’s Jerusalem Thou that killest the Prophets by St. Paul; and Handel’s Let the bright Seraphim.
Next on the program will be our guest performer, Sigrid Luther, at the piano performing the Prelude from Bach’s English Suite No. 3 in G Minor, BWV 808; and Faure’s Nocturne in D Flat Major, Op. 63.
Dolores Harvey will be the presenter.
