The Colonnade Players are pleased to present the smash‐hit disco musical "Mamma Mia!" from September 12‐22 at the Colonnade Center in Ringgold, Georgia. This hilarious and charming story unfolds on a Greek island, when, on the eve of her wedding, Sophie’s search for her birth father brings three men from her mother’s past back to the island. The story is woven around the timeless musical hits of ABBA, including notable songs such as “Dancing Queen,” “Take a Chance on Me,” “Super Trouper,” and “The Winner Takes it All.” Mamma Mia!, with music and lyrics by Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus and book by Catherine Johnson, ran on Broadway from 2001‐2015 with 5,773 performances, and was adapted into a movie in 2008.
This production marks the local community theatre premiere of Mamma Mia!, and will feature a cast of 34 local actors, including Beth McClary‐Wolford as Donna, Gracie Gilbert as Sophie, and Greg Glover as Sam, among other impressively talented performers. There are also a number of local artists working behind the scenes, including Dr. Jennifer Arbogast Wilson as director, Maggie Williams as choreographer, Darla Toker as costume designer, and Taylor Williams as scenic designer. Additionally, several recent graduates and current students from the Professional Actor Training Program at Chattanooga State are involved both on stage and behind the scenes, including Richard Nichols as assistant director, and Landon Carpenter, Madison Gothard, and Austin Massey as the stage management team.
