Our wine selection consists of several types of wine to suit most any palette. We have reds, whites, rosés, and sparkling & semi-sparkling wines. All of our wines are hand-selected from various wine-producing regions of Italy, which gives us a wide variety of tastes in wine. The Lambrusco is a semi-sweet red wine that has become a house favorite, and the Moscato, a white wine, gets rave reviews with its sweetness and slight effervescence. We also conduct a Wines Around the World event once a month to highlight wines from other wine-producing countries around the world.
Our cold-water oysters are a delight. These oysters are harvested from select regions of the U.S. and Canada. The oysters we serve at Virgola come from Massachusetts, Maine, New Jersey, Nova Scotia, and Washington state. On any given day we have a selection of oysters from the east coast and west coast, which provides different tastes in the oysters. East coast oysters tend to be more mild than their west coast brethren, slightly crisp and sweeter. As you work your way down the east coast, oysters become larger & meatier with more saltiness. Some of the better-known east coast oysters are Blue Point, Wellfleet & Duxberry. West coast oysters are known to be nutty or fruity in taste, but some are very briney with a mineral aftertaste. The tiny Olympia oyster were first harvested on the west coast, but now many Japanese oysters, such as the Kumamoto, are cultivated and harvested in Washington state.
We also offer meat & cheese boards and Italian-inspired salads & sandwiches. Salumi are cured meats imported from Italy. Our meat selections include soft and hard salami, smoked, cured, or dry-aged pork & air-aged beef. Served with bread or crackers. Our cheese selections include Italian soft cheese, similar to a brie, as well as semi-hard and hard cheeses, such as parmigiano and gorgonzola. Our salad selection includes traditional Italian salads, like caprese and panzanella, and additional refreshing Italian-inspired salads such as pomodorini or funghi tartufati (sliced mushrooms drizzled in truffle oil) & carciofi alla romana (roman artichokes). The sandwich selection includes meat, cheese, antipasto & veggie paninis, as well as a traditional Italian sub and a meatball sub.
We host many social events for special celebration, such as paint nights, wine tasting & food pairing, live music, book signings, cupcake decorating, family celebrations, and local business meetings, etc.
